campus network program 2021

The program

As an integrator, telco expert and trusted advisor T-Systems shapes the digital future of its business customers. Customers appreciate the smart solutions of Deutsche Telekom’s subsidiary which are scalable and sustainable – in Automotive, Logistics, Retail, Healthcare, and many other industries. In view of today’s challenges, T-Systems built a powerful ecosystem for Edge Computing in combination with Telekom’s 5G Campus Networks called Campus Edge. Additionally, T-Systems works together with Hyperscalers such as AWS, integrating with their ecosystems.

The Campus Network Program was launched in February 2021 with the aim to build Proof of Concepts (PoC) together with the selected partners at a Demo Center using T-Systems Edge Computing platform and Campus Network 5.0 in Germany. The implemented installations are then to be used for joint sales activities of T-Systems and its partners. The overarching goal is to demonstrate these solutions to customers  and possibly also integrate them in the T-Systems portfolio to scale the partners’ offering.

A first application phase focusing on “Computer Vision” ended end of March. Now we are interested to find partners with best-in-class solutions representing the benefits of Edge Computing and 5G Campus Networks and contributing especially to the following three areas.

Our focus in application phase II

hubraum Campus Network 2021 Program Focus Areas

We are looking for innovative solutions in one of those categories:

Autonomous drones

Autonomous drones can move freely in every environment. This ability creates many opportunities for new exciting applications for every industry. Whether visual inspections, internal logistics, safeguarding of areas or deliveries – autonomous drones as a platform for various applications like computer vision bring flexibility to any solution and environment.

Voice and speech recognition

Voice recognition enables the identification and verification of speakers to provide users with needed information or grant them access. Speech recognition allows interaction with systems through applications like voice interfaces or speech-to-text processing. These two technologies provide an effortless, fast and smart way to access, search and document information or interact with systems and devices.

Edge-Computing-based simulations

Simulations are used to manage today’s complex, ever-changing environments with connected devices in real-time. By continuous consideration of every possible process-variation, optimal processes in complex systems such as robot-based logistics can be identified and applied to increase operational efficiency. By automatically reacting and adapting to changes in the system, such as the failure of one machine, optimal and seamless operation can be maintained.

Your solution does not fit any listed use case? In this case you should still send us your application when you are convinced that your solution offers a significant added value to customers in combination with edge computing and/or campus network infrastructure.

About Campus Networks and Campus Edge

Campus Edge combines Telekom’s innovative 5G Campus Network proposition with T-System’s manifold Edge Computing offering. The offering comprises of a high-end Edge Computing platform, integration- and consulting-services, solution implementation- and operation-services as well as on top solutions.

Edge Computing in general enables a more efficient distribution of computing resources. The idea of edge computing is to bring the computing power closer to where it is needed which creates unique advantages over traditional infrastructures. The novelty and the unique capabilities of Edge Computing like high performance, low latency and secure onsite computing enable a wide range of new use cases for customers in every industry.

Campus networks are custom mobile networks for the industry. They allow machines and processes to connect with each other without any delays.

A campus network is a combination of the public mobile network and a private network. Both networks jointly cover a defined company site, a university, or individual buildings. The private network cannot be accessed from outside. That means the campus network’s capacity can only be used by the customer at any time. Another reliable feature of campus network’s is the period within which the network reacts, which is called the latency or response time in the network. That allows machines to communicate with one another or with a data center, for example, without delays. Thanks to the low latency, even vehicles can move across company premises autonomously using sensors.

As a result of the provision of the campus networks together with the public mobile network in parallel, external applications are also possible on the campus with no problems. One example is remote maintenance of machines performed by manufacturers.
Additional advantages of campus networks: High level of data security, fast data transfer, and high reliability. Qualities that are essential for digitalized production sites.
